It started with a dream…

In 2016 we dreamed of opening a cafe with great food & old fashion service. We would talk for hours under the stars on the front porch about what we would do different from other eateries to make our cafe special. At this point an all American theme was born. We all had beloved memories of our veteran grandfathers and focused our efforts on how the greatest generation truly changed America! They loved their family, fought for this country, and came home to work hard to make a real difference. We still needed a name, something bold, yet beautiful and interesting. Cafe B-29! The B-29 airplane is a symbol of the passion from that era, the nose art painted on each B-29 was the young soldiers way of holding on to hope of what they were fighting for and added sense of humor and beauty to the grim reality of war.

My daughter Sam was just about to graduate MSU with a business degree and we started writing the business plan and then the modern task of paperwork on top of paperwork to satisfy the bureaucrats…. Nobody even asked if we could cook but I think we’ve proven we can. After months of looking at different properties and locations that never “felt” quite right, we smiled ear to ear when we walked in the future site of Cafe B-29 with the sun pouring in warmth from the east windows we knew we had found our “home base”! This is where we would make our stand! Chaz, Matt, and Myka began the daunting task of building a restaurant out of an old office space. Four and a half months of solid hands on, hard work with the great architects at GHN, the wonderful City of Ozark, and an awesome team of friends and family that volunteered their time and talents and shared enthusiasm we built our dream! We opened our doors to the public on September 15, 2017.

We are still evolving and growing. Opening a restaurant from scratch is challenging to say the least, but we stuck together, worked hard and made it happen! Our community has been a huge part of why the cafe is extra special and we want to thank all of you from the bottom of our hearts!
